I heard that Samsung don't let us play that media on other devices by putting some type of encryption. I think that creates your problem.
If you want to use PVR, than leave your HDD attached to TV.

If your TV could read your HDD without problem, than attach it to TV, root your TV and mount a NFS directory pointing to your PC linux and copy diles what ever you want via Ethernet cable. It have ~7-8MB/s speed and it could take some hours. But you will have your files at last...
