I think you mean OSD images.
Look at PVR+ / PVR sources.
You needed to inspect some SDL.

2 way to make it.
If you want an original widget like youtube, weather... etc. you can use yahoo WDK for make similar widgets. Don't have experience on it. Search on Net.
Second way is that developing standalone program like PVR. It also uses OSD images. For that you needed to use SDL api.
SDL is an programming api. I think you can find detailed documentations about it, use google..

i was just wondering why my tv is not showing the widgets over the channel image as it does on the us modells
i've did a little research and found that in europe samsung is not allowed to put widgets over the image

i give you a link with a c659 from us
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gng1H8-fK4w
as you can see the widgets are over the image

now, my question is
is there a hidden setting to activare this?

in my tv menu at samsung apps settings is a tiker setting witch is disabled (grey) witch can be turned to on or off but i cannot acces it.
I dont know if that is the right setting but i am just woandering....
That widgets are on image with B650 series. Don't know C series but it needed to be same.
I remember that if I set color scheme to opaque (from normal menu style selection but don't remember actually menu name) it doesn't show transparent images. So I have black screen while I run this widgets as far as I remember. When I select shiny theme, I can see through transparent images. I think your problem is that...
