Can't activate SamyGO Extensions in C6800 / no ssh

Post by bacardi »

Hi!

First of all thanks everybody involved in this great work. After owning a Samsung UE40C6800 (currently with T-VALDEU 3003) for about two years now, I finally tried to use SamyGo and get ssh access to the TV.
Getting TV to start the run.sh from USB-stick worked exactly as described in the wiki, but I cant't get the SamyGO-extensions to work (hence currently still no root-access).
According to the compatibility-list it has an ARM-CPU and Internet@TV should work to root the TV.
I suppose the Internet@TV-part relates to the modified usb_hotplug.sh, so that part is through.
What I have difficulties with is:
1) what file exactly do I have to unzip on the stick to get the correct extensions for my C6800?
Clicking on C_Series in the download-area and selecting ARM CPU, I get another selection of 6 possibilities.
I chose the 'Content library Applications' and here the file SamyGO-All-Extensions-v0.03.6-r12-for-T-VALDEUC-20110103184650.zip, but there are two more (a bugfix and a libs-archive...)
2) The wiki-article for the extension pack states in the section 'Is this stuff compatible with your tv ' for T-VAL: 'binaries may work, kernel modules rather not (ARMv7) (defined as T-CSERIES.. in OE barnch, you have to implement the toolchain and kernel-build for your self)'

Is this the reason, it's not working for me?
The rcSGO_out-file on the stick shows quite a few problems, starting with:
/etc/rc.sysinit: line 94: /dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/opt/privateer/sbin/depmod: not found
insmod /dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/lib/modules/*.ko, this behavior is outdated modules are handled by the init scripts!
Replace /dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/lib/modules/treasure/*.ko
insmod: can't open '/dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/lib/modules/2.6.24_SELP.4.3.x-Cortex-A8/kernel/drivers/video/cfbcopyarea.ko': No such file or directory
insmod: can't open '/dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/lib/modules/2.6.24_SELP.4.3.x-Cortex-A8/kernel/drivers/video/cfbfillrect.ko': No such file or directory
insmod: can't open '/dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/lib/modules/2.6.24_SELP.4.3.x-Cortex-A8/kernel/drivers/video/cfbimgblt.ko': No such file or directory
insmod: can't open '/dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/lib/modules/2.6.24_SELP.4.3.x-Cortex-A8/kernel/drivers/usb/input/usbhid.ko': No such file or directory
:

So I take it, the run.sh calls the /dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/rcSGO-script, which in turn calls /etc/rc.sysinit at some stage, which tries to run depmode from the stick, but the sbin-directory on my stick is empty.
The /dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/lib/modules/2.6.24_SELP.4.3.x-Cortex-A8/kernel/drivers/ - dir has some subdirs with some .ko-files in it, but the above mentioned modules aren't there.

What would I need to do to get the extensions working on the C6800?
One more question: I encontered 'Valencia' quite often, but all posts, I fonund so war described the C6625 mobile phone and I suppose, this has nothing to do with my TV, correct? the similarity of T-VAL and Valencia is only coincidence?

Be sure you prepari SamyGO stick in this way:
get last "All-Extensions" for valencia (it's r12)
extract SamyGO-All-Extensions-Bugfix-v0.03.6-r15-for-valencia-20111001120232.zip over it
and then extract SamyGO-libs-T-VALDEUC-20110123101934.zip
the enable/disable what you like to [not]use
TV: UE40F7000 - T-FXPDEUC-1115.0 - SamyGO Extensions on F series
TV: UE55ES7000S - T-ECPDEUC-2003.4 - SamyGO tool Right from USB - no develop account is needed
TV: UE40C6710 - T-VALDEUC 3011 - Hacking TV over Hotel mode (C650 T-VALDEUC-3009.2)
BD-Player: BD-E6100 - B-FIRBPEWWC 1063.3 - rooted, no more Cin@vi@
NAS: CIFS: MAG250 NFS: Playon!HD

Hi!
First: Again - thank you greenhorn (too modest...) - this time for the very quick response. I now have ssh access!
I did extract the Bugfix over r12 and then the libs on top of everything.
I took about 2 Minutes after the popup disappeared before My 'Connection refused' for ssh changed to 'The authenticity of host '192.168.41.4 (192.168.41.4)' can't be established' maybe it needed to create the ssh key on top of moving files around.
Mayby a short readme in the download section would help to advise user to COMBINE the zip archives instead of selecting one of them.
And a clarification of what Valencia is would help too - a search in the wiki for the word yields no results.
What I ddn't do was enabling / disabling what i want / don't want - simply becaus I don't know how to do this. Can you point me to the documentation of that? Is there a readme?

There are still a few error messages in the new ls rcSGO_out, like:
sed: /dtv/usb/log: No such file or directory
/dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/etc/init.d/01_01_catch_crap.init: line 27: ../../bin/busybox: not found
insmod: can't open '/dtv/usb/sda1/SamyGO/lib/modules/2.6.24_SELP.4.3.x-Cortex-A8/kernel/drivers/video/cfbcopyarea.ko': No such file or directory
:
, but they don't bother me just yet - maybe they help fixing the scripts even further - if someone's interested in the details, please contact me. UNfortunately I don't know enough of the matter (yet) to do this myself, but I'm willing to assist.

Then a more functional question: In comparison to patching the firmware, I read that using the extensions is somewhat non-invasive and won't brick the TV, but looking at the line, I entered into the run.sh-script:
rm -f /mtd_rwarea/profile
it looks to me like changes in the original filesystem, or not?

Isn't that potentially harmful?

Cheers,
Kai
