Samsung 64 HELP

Post by razorbackzz »

Hi guys having a few problems,

I have setup a Qnap ts412 to stream all my movies. Lots a tv shows and dvd rips ect and alot of HD Blurays. some 8 - 20 gb

Problem is Qnap only seems to run twonky as a media streaming program and will only pickup the bluray quality files in MKV format

now i used to run all these fine before i went to a NAS drive and i had to rename them from MKV to AVI all worked great
Problem is now only some of my tv work with the NAS running MKV format

I have 2 of the 63 inch and one 58 inch series 7 plasmas. ( These work ok without problems on the NAS )

i have also a 64 plasma series 8 and two 40" led 6400 tvs running Smart TV Software. problem is the they do pickup the MKV files on the NAS but will not play saying File Not supported. now it says that these tv support MKV files but dont seem to work.
They used to work without problem when i renamed them to avi format and ran them with my PC with the Samsung Allshare software.

Any ideas how i can get around this????
I have ran samsung and they are usless as usual telling me to buy external HDD and rename my files to AVI ( this was a stupid idea ) whats the point of setting up a NAS

please help me guys. if i could perhaps hack the firmware???

I was think maybe updating and running the Plex software if it supported it but i would rather stick with the stock progs to run the movies as i am used to it.

thanks
