Dual View available for iOS (iPad)

Post by Jmg »

Dear community,

those of you who have an iPad and use the Samsung TV app may have seen this:
Samsung enabled here the ?Dual View? (Smart View) feature, but unfortunately only for devices from 2012.
The older types (even if they could) don?t seem to be supported.

I have a UE46D8000, using FW 1018 (with SamyGo), and Dual View does not work.
On some German pages I saw that many more people complained that with their D7xxx or D8xxx it is also not working.
And this although since 2011 Android SW running on a Galaxy Tab and S2 is available.

Nevertheless I want to give it a trial and discuss this with the experts in this forum. So my questions:

a) Is there anybody outside having a D7xxxx or D8xxx where Dual View is working on the iPad?
b) If yes, can this be a firmware issue (e.g. not supported with older but only with newer FWs)?
Although I doubt that this is the reason as otherwise also the ?old? Android solution would not work)?
c) Or is there any switch that needs to get enabled (e.g. in the service menu) to get this feature running?

Many thanks in advance for your feedback and potential ideas.

I've UE46D8000 with version 1023 of the fiemware and the dual view feature doesn't work on Ipad.
It seems only 2012 models are supported also if the D7000 D8000 models could be ...I hope in some app update from Samsung.

Well this sucks! As you say, I thought that DualView was supported on the D series on the Android platform so it's very annoying that Samsung provide support only for E-series on the iPad :(

I downloaded the app and tried editing .plist and .xml files in order to trick the app into thinking my D-series was an E but it seems it will be more involved than that. I did notice some interesting M_AUTH files (3 of them) sat there in the open though, from experience with messing around with the iOS TiVo app, I suspect these are certificates used to sign in/out traffic to the TV - could be useful?

On iTunes and here as running commentary to the Samsung app I read the following for an 46ES7090:

--> update the TV?s FW to the latest available SW,
--> remove the app from the iPhone/iPad, reboot the device, and afterwards re-install the app,
--> remove the TV from the main power supply, wait some minutes, and afterwards re-start the TV

At least for the guy who posted this comment it seems to have worked.
However, as I only own an ?old? UED8000 I cannot confirm that this method is really working.
Good luck for you.

Works with my Samsung Galaxy note 10.1.....46D7000.

I think its a device issue, Samsung just want Samsung devices connecting.

Has anyone found out what the actual requirements and restrictions for dual view are?

The app list the requirements for just running the remote control part, but so far I haven't found any useful info about when it is supposed to work or not.

So far I haven't been able to make it work with a UN55ES7100 (2012) or a UN46D7000, using either an iPad 3 (ios 6.1) or an iPad 1 (iOS 5.1.1)

I've only tried it with an HDMI input from my TiVo. I was wondering if this only works for OTA content that isn't copy protected.

I just saw the uninstall/reinstall incantation posted above. I'll give that a try and report back.

Unfortunately I also installed the latest firmware on my UN46D7000 to try to make this work before I read the warning that I may no longer be able to install the SamyGo firmware or apps.

You need older app. We uploaded it in other thread. I think you need to preplace one file in zip to file from current version and it should work :)
I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
If you want me to help you please paste FULL log(s) to "spoiler"/"code" bbcodes or provide link(s) to pasted file(s) on https://pastebin.com Otherwise "NO HELP"!!!
If you want root DISABLE internet access to your device!!!!
DO NOT EVER INSTALL FIRMWARE UPGRADE !!!!
