BD-D6500 - Downgrade not working (No Updates Available)

Post by ryannotfound »

I've been trying for the past couple of hours to get the SamyGO downgrade to 1015 working as Cinavia has completely broken the functionality of my BD player, but to no avail. I was inspired by this post (viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4244&p=38265&hilit=D6500#p38265), which had reported success only 9 days ago in downgrading from version 1030 (my current version), but I've had no such luck in doing so myself.

My setup is as follows:

BD-D6500 player >>> (wireless connection) Linksys E3200 >>> Fortigate 50B >>> Cable Modem

The Linksys is in use as a switch only -- as in, I'm using it for wired and wireless connections only. No routing is being performed on this level, and it is connecting to my firewall (Fortigate 50B) via the same LAN switch on the unit that physically connected devices use. In essence, the yellow "WAN" port is not in use - everything runs on the LAN segment here. This device is essentially transparent so there are no configuration options that need tweaking here. Even DHCP services/etc are being run on the 50B.

On the Fortigate, I've verified with flow captures that the DNS resolution of http://www.samsungotn.net is resolving to 149.154.159.134 during the update check process, but I'm still getting a "no updates found" issue.

On the BD-D6500 I've tried entering both IP and DNS information manually (as in, all manual, or leaving IP information automatic and just simply changing DNS to manual), both with the same results. I've even modified the DHCP-configured DNS address(es) to reflect this IP on the Fortigate, and tried with automatic and manual IP/DNS settings on the BD-D6500, same results. It's as if although the traffic is going in all the right places, the player is either not receiving or rejecting any update information. Again this is contrary to what colt2096 had reported in his post (above).

I'd be happy to do some more thorough packet captures that can be opened in wireshark if anyone is willing to look in further. I've attached the flow cap from the Fortigate to show that we are in-fact resolving to the right IP. The IP of my BD-D6500 is 192.168.1.241.

on model type no one is interested, exact firmware version and DUID/(or mac address of onboard nw-adapter, not from wlan adapter!!!) is required...

like:

Code: Select all

SWU_B-BRCM53BSP_001030_I04_ES000DS000KS000RS000_121018
SWU_B-BRCM53BSP_001030_I04_ES000DS000KS000RS000_121019
SWU_B-BRCM53BSP_001030_I05_ES000DS000KS000BS000RS000_121018

I believe firmware is SWU_B-BRCM65BSP_001030_I05_ES000KS000RS000DS000BS000_121019 but I may be wrong - this is the firmware downloadable from Samsung's website so I suspect it is the most up-to-date. With normal DNS settings, the player does not detect any updates. Is there a way to verify this on my player?

Also, I've gathered the other information below:

DUID: 7XCA3HZIPMADE
MAC: 00:23:99:E8:EB:9D (wired NIC)

Still no updates available when using normal DNS settings - which again leads me to believe I'm running current firmware, listed.

Re: BD Firmware Downgrade (SamyGO Proof of Concept)

Post by byngo »

Hi Guys,
Great forum ive found here and im wanting to downgrade firmware on my BD D6500-ZF
the unit tells me the software version is BSP-D6500ZF-1030.0
On the samsung website the latest version you can download, which I believe the unit has installed through the updates is as follows:-
SWU_B-BRCM65BSP_001030_I05_ES000KS000RS000DS000BS000_121019

I set the DNS on the BD to 149.154.159.134 but no joy. It said "no software update available".

Im no expert when it comes to this kind of thing. Is there a roll-back firmware availble for me?
If I need to change settings on my Virgin media "superhub" I dont know how to do that??
Help please kind people. :(

I'll try the same, I believe we both have the same model and current firmware.
