PVR BD-DT7800 - problem with UK region

Post by theos69 »

Hi,
I have PVR player BD-DT7800. It is from UK but I would like to use it in Poland or Germany.
Problem is with settings - country. I have only UK and Ireland.
Is it possible to change to another one? Maybe any service menu? How to display service menu with this model?
Due to this problem it is problem with clock and problem with Guide menu.
Programms are not showed correctly.

I will be grateful for help.
Rgds.

Hi.
I am fighting with problem.
I tried to use this method:
http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/Enteri ... _Firmwares

I tired to used cable USB->TTL.
Seems that it is connection.

First I wrote:
mode com15:9600,n,8,1,p
and I got:
Device status COM15
transmition: 9600
ect
ect

But when I wrote
copy /b info.bin com15

I got info that file was not found.

Is it something wrong?

Maybe you need info.bin file to be placed in your working dir?

First of all after connection I tired to send off.bin for checking.

Last news:
Service in Poland didn't hear about BD-DT78000 :)
They can not help me.
They told me that they never use USB cable to see service menu with blu ray devices.
They only use right keys on the remote controller, but they don't have any docs and instructions for DT7800.

But, I tried to use different operation system.
I used Win Vista nad Win 7 and no any good info.

Seems that data cable is working.
I have connection with device, but after sending off.bin samsung still is working.

So perhaps FaNet code files differ from those we have on wiki. Bad luck.

@Oga83, do you have anything to say? :)

What kind of cable are you using ?
FaNet is known to work with FTDI cables; Prolific cables does not work on my unit because the driver is not included in the kernel.
First of all, you have to check your USB<>TTL<>USB cable between 2 terminals to make sure that your TTL connections are correct (GND and crossed RX/TX).
Use putty or other terminals to do this test.

It only mean that the first half of your cable is working (PC<>USB), not the entire cable.
In particular, it does not prove that you TTL signals are correctly crossed.
The 'copy' command has no specific protocol : it only sends raw data on the serial link.
As the handshake signals are not used (on the TTL side), there is no mean for this command to know that the transfer is ok.
Again, checking your cable with 2 terminal is the only way to prove it works.

To do the test between 2 terminals, you can either use 2 pc with putty, or 2 putty on the same pc with 2 usb ;)

Oh I see, thank you very much for your clear explain.

I used 2x USB - RS232 UART TTL PL2303HX
crosed RX/TX + GND.

but what is funny.
In Vista system, after copy file for example off.bin, I have question in console, if I want to overwrite the file.
So if I good understand something was send before to Samsung. :)

But I must get somewhere FTDI cable.
