Ghost Effect on UE40D8000 3D - Info

Post by nirvana »

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with my tv (UE 40 D 8000 3D): on the right side of the screen, watching in 3D, I see always an irritating ghost effect. Unfortunately "playing" with the settings I can't eliminate it altogether.
I would like to know if someone with my same model, has the same defect and if can solve it.

I also noticed that in the settings of the 3D image option, "depth" is disabled. How do I activate it? using the ruSamsung?

Contacting Samsung service of my country (Italy) have told me that is an uncommon problem. In addition, according to other forums many people say that the problem seems to be native for this samsung tv series and the change of the panel does not solve the problem.

What do you think of all this? I'm desperate because the warrenty ends in December, so anything I can do I have to do before December!

Please help me with any suggestion ;)

How are you watching 3D?

I have noticed this in the past. I don't watch much 3D... In my experience I see this ghosting effect on my UE46D8000 but only with low quality video. Unfortunately this includes 3D broadcast channels such as sky(UK and Italia) 3D. Broadcast satellite is upscaled 720. I don't know exactly but the quality is dramatically reduced. At a guess it 720/2... 360 per SBS image upscaled to 1080.
I have also noticed, when watching a particular boxing show, only a certain camera had bad ghosting. When it cut to the other cameras (luckily the main camera didn't have the ghosting so bad) it was better, not perfect though.

Could just be inexperienced camera operators and new technology?

When watching low quality 3D mkv files its noticeable but not so much in higher quality ones.

I don't notice it when playing 3D video from smart hub's explore 3D app.
