Hello friends.
I have a bd-d5500 running 1015 version (downgraded from 1022 with the procedure shown here at samygo).
Unit runs ok by when I'm not using it and it's on standby mode, I will turn on and off by its own on and on.
Is anyone else having these kind of problems? Are there any fixes to this issue??
Will appreciate a lot you help.
Thanks!
Bd-d5500 turns on and off by itself - help!
Re: Bd-d5500 turns on and off by itself - help!
just so you know.
this is fixed by disconnecting a small brown ribbon flex cable on the front panel. apparently this issue occurs with the touch panel going crazy.
i disconnected the touch panel (be careful not to disconnect the IR cable) and its now fixed. only thing, you need to do everything from the remote.

regards(1) Unplug Samsung Blu Ray player;
(2) Remove sidewalls and top cover;
(3) Remove front fascia;
(4) Remove front touch screen board by rotating the top out first, then you will see a thin brownish ribbon attached to the bottom;
(5) Disconnect brownish-colored ribbon from the rest of the system by pulling it straight out (the brownish ribbon runs up to the touch panel buttons);
(6) Re-assemble, leaving touch screen panel brownish ribbon disconnected from the rest of the system.
Unfortunately, you will now rely solely on the remote control as the touch screen panel on the front of the Blu Ray player will no longer work.
However, the upside is that your Blu Ray player will no longer cycle on and off.

This also works for BD-E8300!
