HDMI 5.1 Passthrough

Post by stark2006 »

Hello,

I am a new user here, I have
TV Model:UA46F7500
Software Version: T-FXPUABC=1116.1,BT-S/G

My PC having Graphic Card ATi-HD-5770 Connected through HDMI Cable to TV HDMI ARC, The optical out of TV is connected to 2.1/5.1 optical to analog 5.1 receiver/converter
& I have 5.1 Creative T6160 Speakers connected to the 5.1 reciever.

I have tried every EDID Monitor.inf modification to output 5.1 data to TV but it cannot pass-through it to the 5.1 channel receiver via OPTICAL cable.. What i get is only 2.1 or NEO 2.5

Can somebody explain me the complete procedure to do it, or if apply samygo patch to my TV am I able to pass-though 5.1?

First of all, ARC has nothing to do with spdif passthrough, it's even the (bad) main reason why passthrough is more and more deprecated and unsupported by most TVs. No need to use ARC enabled HDMI port, any of them should work.

I don't know which EDID editor you used but 90% of ones found on the web output crap. So here's verified monitor.inf:
monitor_inf_FXP_AC3.zip
You have to go into Windows peripherals and replace TV driver (something like "Generic plug&play monitor") by attached inf.
Then you should be able to play 5.1 movie but AC3 only, it means you have to use some player/codec supporting it (e.g. Media Player Classic with LAV filters in AC3 bitstream mode or ffdshow in "convert to AC3" mode).

Finally you'd need to be lucky enough for your TV to already support AC3 output by default, because there is no patch for non-MST firmwares. Else you'll only be able to select Dolby Digital as spdif output mode, but you'll hear no sound :) .

I do NOT receive any PM. Please use forum.
