To install a custom widget, does my TV need a root access ?

You don't need to root your TV to install custom widgets!
Just enable the develop account and then you'll be able to install the widgets you want..
Search google for "samygo wiki install custom widgets" and the first result will guide you trough this process..

You can also search and install "DriveCast" widget from the samsung market on your TV and that should work well as rss reader (i didn't tried it)..

Yes, actually we could test this. But i know we have some not such dangerous way to root this device. Only after we root it, i think we could check the HospitalityMode hack.

Well i don't know how to get the widget from my TV (i'v not rooted it yet) ...

Anyway i searched some info about Drivecast, and it seems a nice app, but i don't know if it support also rss feeds..
