It does not state this limitation in the user manuals or advertising/sales literature that I received at the time of purchase.
If this is true (regarding the 3D-FullHD support only via HDMI4) then this further re-inforces the suggestion that the TV is not capable of decoding 3D-FullHD without an additional external hardware decoding device.

German magazine digitalfernsehen.de, having best contacts to Samsung, writes that firmware 002000 will finally allow "true Full HD 3D quality" if Motion Plus is disabled on D6500 devices. The German VDE already certified that firmware on a D6500 for "Full HD 3D", and Samsung will make the firmware available on demand.

However, I just tried, but the German Samsung Full HD 3D hotline (+49 (0)800-1213161) currently denies access to this "Full HD 3D"-certified firmware... Anyway, in the end Samsung will have to grant access, at least in Germany, otherwise Samsung would have to stop advertising the VDE "Full HD 3D" certificate...

the answer is simple the hardware that already sold can't be fixed with firmware (not with 002000 and also not with the 999999) if somebody made tests again and get really full hd 3d then he got a test device from samsung with different hardware but same model number...

just my 0,02 ?

Fortunately, this seems to be incorrect, the German VDE certification of the new Full HD 3D-firmware 002000 is explicit:
"Full HD representation for both eyes, 1080p lines for each eye (with Motion Plus switched off)". The Samsung UE46D6500 the VDE certified for Full HD 3D is an old one, a Samsung UE46D6500VSXG, Version "02", serial number Z8J13SRB300058H (produced in March 2011). The Full HD 3D secret lies in the new firmware 002000: Where the old firmware does not make a 3D resolution difference if Motion Plus is enabled or not, the new firmware does.

Technical explanation: The D6500-hardware is capable of Full HD and 3D. Regretfully, so far not at the same time, because the image processing power of the D6500 hardware is insufficient. Therefore, Samsung did look for a way to free up some D6500 processing power for true Full HD 3D. Obviously, they decided for an option to turn off the considerable processing power for "Motion Plus" (image transition smoothing) and switch it to optimal 3D resolution processing instead. This way, with the new Full HD 3D-firmware, customers will be able to choose between:
a) Motion Plus enabled for optimized image transition smoothing but reduced 3D image resolution
b) Motion Plus disabled for no image transition smoothing but original Full HD 3D image resolution

The question that now remains: When will Samsung make this new Full HD 3D firmware available?

If such a firmware update will exist in near future, the question for me will be to update and may be have Full-HD-3D TV or not to update and have a working samygo?

Presumably Samsung would have to change their literature to qualify that Full HD 3D is only available on these TV's with Motion Plus disabled, does this also affect the clear motion rate?
