I thin the real problem is Windows here that you are using. If you are using linux, than you don't have any problem like this.
TV just requires XFS filesystem for recording videos. You can read XFS from linux easily. You have better to start linux for your PC today.
It's free (and also virus free) :)

Anyway you will have encrypted files with XFS that you cannot watch also. You needed to apply a hack for stop encryption on recording. But don't know if that hack supports your TV/Monitor.
