Bricked BD-D8500M/XU

Post by marek »

Hello, i think i have bricked my BD-Combo.
I tried to change country firmware, but i made a stupid mistake.

I changed from Ireland to Sweden/Norway in Service Menu.
After rebooting, theres only a black screen, in display i see "hello".
I tried to reset to use reset-functions (exit button for 20 sec./ stop-Button) but there are no changes.

Do you know any way to reset it?

First, try to get access with debug console to restore factory options (http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/Serial_console)
If not successfull, try to hard reset the eeprom (http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/UnBric ... PROM_Reset)

Hello,

I decided to try the hard reset of the eeprom.

It's working fine!

You saved my BD-D8500s life!!!

Thanx!

OK, i'll try:

The first thing you need to expand the motherboard. Then turn around. The eeprom chip located on the underside of the mainboard. In the picture, the position can be seen very well. It bears the inscription "24 512".
Next the two labeled feet are connected. Use a cable, not just a solder pad, as shown in the picture. It has to be cut later in the operation, otherwise no settings can be saved. Please be sure the cable must be long enough to be able to achieve good later.
I used a cable with a switch, a very comfortable solution.
After soldering, the BD player will be reassembled. Then plug in, switch and wait. After about 20 seconds, the installation menu appears. The settings are reset. Now, the cable can be cut. Before the hot start is essential that the service will be opened. On my BD almost all settings were erased. I had to TYPE, MODEL, select TUNER again. Then turn off by remote control. Unplug for 20 seconds.

Plug it in again, the original state is back. The closing of the case, I found the hardest! :-)

OK, since the problem is now solved

Can someone tell me what settings in the service menu will have changed, to use the time zone of Germany. My last attempt failed. I can not record at the moment and my EPG does only deferred because the time GB / Ireland is set.

On BD-D8900/ZF, 'Local Set' cannot be changed in the setup menu.
The option is greyed and I didn't find how enable it :(

What's the difference between /XU and /ZF ?
