UN46D6000SFXZA with Pioneer Receiver

Post by waterhead »

I recently purchased a refurbished 46" LED. I have it hooked to a Pioneer VSX-1021-k 7.1 surround sound receiver. To get the digital sound to the receiver I am using the optical output from the TV. I have other devices hooked to the receiver via HDMI cables, and another HDMI cable from the receiver output to the TV HDMI1 input. I also have the Anynet+ enabled on the TV, and the "Control with HDMI function" on the receiver enabled. This seems to work OK, as I can then change the receiver volume using the TV remote, and the power button will turn off both the TV and the receiver.

The one problem I have, is that when I turn the TV on, it always changes the receiver to the "TV/Sat" selection. This mode does not have an option for optical input, and I am using a different input which allows the use of the optical input.

Is there any way to stop it from changing the input on the receiver? Is it the TV doing this, or maybe the receiver?

I have not updated the firmware, which is this version:

Well, I did find that my receiver is to blame. I have managed to change the settings, and now the digital audio is being put through the "TV/Sat" mode. But, I did lose the ability to control the receiver volume using the TV's remote.

The receiver has the capability to receive audio via the connected HDMI cable. It is called HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel), but that doesn't seem to work. I don't know if this TV supports HDMI ARC.
