Currently on T-MST10PDEUC-1015 should I update to 1029?

Post by rainless »

I recently discovered that Smart Hub NEVER really worked right on my EH5300. I became aware of this because, all-of-a-sudden Samsung Apps started throwing "interface connection error"s and I could no longer get Youtube (which came predownloaded on my TV to work.

As a possible solution to this I "restarted" the Smart Hub via the tools menu... which changed nothing. So I reinstalled the app and BEHOLD: All of a sudden the app widgets... which had NEVER been present for my installed apps were there in the smart hub screen. It immediately said something about needing to update smarthub... which it did... but upon doing so it deleted all of my widgets and I can't access any of the Samsung Apps again to try and reinstall them.

I've heard a firmware update may fix this... so I downloaded 1029... but I have yet to install it because I figured it would make sense to ask first.

So would installing 1017 Samygo solve my problem? (I don't want to update too far and not be able to root). Or is the samsung app store just down?

Anyway, what do you recommend?

And while I'm at it... I'm curious... Is the E Series actually rooted now? Drop to a bash shell... that kind of thing? My understanding is you connect via telnet.

Nevermind. Turns out the app store was just some stupid Samsung server-side thing.

I started up Smarthub this morning and it worked fine.

Downloaded Yahoo immediately.

So no firmware update for me!
