Problem with PS51D350
Problem with PS51D350
Hi.I messed up with the service menu on my plasma tv and i'm really frustrated.I wanted to change to D550 in order to play videos from usb.But after the first change i couldnt remember what was the original one because the model names that you can choose from that menu are a little bit different from the actual one.So i went to hotel mode (without turning off) and chose the option usb to tv(previously i chose tv to usb because i thought it was something like a back up in case of a problem). Then the tv powered off by itself and white, red, blue, green full screen colors started to appear.I plugged and unplugged several times the power cord but all the time it powers on by itself with these colors. The remote control doesn't work at all. When i plug the antenna cable i can hear the sound of a channel but no change on the picture.I tried also this [Press "EXIT" button for 12 seconds (15 is better since you cannot see TV), than press "Left" and "Enter"] but no luck(i think its because the remote control doesn't work at all).I read about this EEPROM reset but i'm afraid that i will make things worse. Can anyone help with this problem? Thanks in advance.
Re: Problem with PS51D350
Nope except eeprom reset will bring you to service menu. Then you have to do factory reset from there and set proper values for type/model/bk color.

Re: Problem with PS51D350
So my only hope is eeprom reset? If so i have 2 questions:where i can find the right values for my model and what kind of wire do i have to use(have to buy one or i can use something which can be found in a house)?
Re: Problem with PS51D350
I think you should just check proper wiki article and you`ll know you just need make short circuit between some tracks. So you can use any mettalic thing to do that.
I don`t know where to get values. Ask on forum/go to shop and pray they show you or maybe service can tell you?

Re: Problem with PS51D350
When you say service you mean to call samsung for info?I don't know if they will help me....anyway i will give it try for the eeprom reset. Thanks for your quick reply.
Re: Problem with PS51D350
Ok i tried something which i found on a forum and i want to share because it worked!I think it's a good alternative solution, before proceeding to eeprom reset(which took me 4 hrs to find the pins....if i found finally the right ones):
- Disconnect the power cable
- Remove the CI+ module (If you use a CI+ PMCIA card)
- Remove all the screws form the back-end
- Remove the panel cable on the mainbord (usually it's in the center of the mainboard, it's large and thin)
- Plugin the powercable (TV is now on standby)
- Insert the code for getting into the service menu (info+menu+mute+power off)
- The tv starts and the service menu shows up.
- Now carefully connect the the lcd cable back to the main board. (be very careful)
- Voila, here is the service menu back on screen
- Now, recover the model number (eg LB550)
- Now save, by pressing the power-button (your tv shuts down)
- As in a test turn on the tv and see if its working again.
- Turn off the tv and remove the powercable
- Place the backend together with screws
And so i tried to change finally from pd530 to pd550 with factory reset in the end(no power off) and no other chabges. It worked, but since i have the tv open i thought to reverse back to pd530 in case i didn't like something. But on service menu i cant use any button, just the power off.I want to ask if i can do something (press some other buttons?) or to use the previous guide which worked and probably will work again?I just want to know the "normal" procedure to reverse back.

Re: Problem with PS51D350
Well i tried to "downgrade" from the d550 to d530 but no luck even with the the things i've done before.Anyone know how to reverse back? Thanks in advance.
Re: Problem with PS51D350
I think you should follow procedure and make short circuit on mainboard to get eeprom blocked during boot. TV will boot default values and you can re-define type/model. Now you just entered to service menu in "old" way by disconnecting the LVDS cable. This is not same what i suggested.

If you don`t know what is eeprom location, take high resolution photos of your mainboard and give for inspection. Labels of 8-pin chips should be readable.

Re: Problem with PS51D350
Thanks for your reply.Ok i managed to do it again with the way i've done it before.Probably it helped (i think i'm not sure) that i unplugged a small cable with white edge from the mainboard when the tv was off. When i entered the service menu i started pushing some buttons and i think on 0 or mute it unselected the first option. It was like nothing selected with no red mark on the letters.I switched off and then on and then the up and down buttons started to work again.I don't know if it was luck or anything else, but i'm sure that changing model to another i just have to power off and not factory reset.I changed between pd530 and pd550 several times with power off and i don't have any problem. And i think i'm gonna stick to that i have already too many devices with "expanded potentialities" i don't want also a tv with that. Also thanks for your willinness to help with the pins, i will send in the next days pics in order to know the eeprom location...just in case i mess up something again which i hope i'm not...
