Hey guys,
I'm working on an App that connects to a Samsung SmartTV for remote control. So far it's working great, but I have to hardcode the TV's IP address. Is there a way to scan the local network for a Samsung SmartTV? I stumbled upon mDNS or DNS-SD but didn't get very far. Am I on the right track here?
all the best,
Tom
Scan Network for TV IP Address
Re: Scan Network for TV IP Address
I made a scanner for Samsung TV?s not too long ago.
My method is to attempt a FTP-connection.
If failed, no TV.
If success, I try to browse a folder I know must exist on the TV, but not normally on any other FTP-server.
If such folder exist, I accept IP as TV, and ignore IP if folder does not exist.
If your TV is rooted, you may see the scanner in action by downloading this tool: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=6511

Re: Scan Network for TV IP Address
ah that is an interesting approach! For which Samsung Series would that work?
Re: Scan Network for TV IP Address
It detects both my D- and F-series
I also have positive confirmation from users of the tool mentioned that it detects E(S)-series too.
No experience with other models.
