ihmgsm wrote:Hi, first of all I want to say thank You, for perfect working root solution, for new version Samsung TV.
Personaly I have got Samsung UE40F8000 v.1118, and I have managed to install SamyGo root and OSCAM.

I have only one question: Is there any way to set a secured account (user +password) for built in ftp sever and stop anonymous login, or at least a way to stop/start server via telnet, web, or ssh.
It seems very risky to me, anybody connected to my local net to have ftp access to my TV. It's enough to write IP of the TV in Windows explorer and You can delete, move or copy files from TV's OS.

Thanks
Ivan
No way (at least not easily). If the IP is in your domain this should be reliable.
May be you can play with your router IP table fioltering and rules.

what can I do??
Don't unplug usb. :) That's completely expect and wanted behavior. It's for your good ;)
I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
If you want me to help you please paste FULL log(s) to "spoiler"/"code" bbcodes or provide link(s) to pasted file(s) on https://pastebin.com Otherwise "NO HELP"!!!
If you want root DISABLE internet access to your device!!!!
DO NOT EVER INSTALL FIRMWARE UPGRADE !!!!

Any suggestions on what might be going on with the constant reboot?

TV has a watchdog-timer running. This watchdow will check "certain things".

After you have rooted TV its very possible that some software-module now have a bad checksum,
or some other anomaly. TV simply try to "repair" itself by rebooting.

This is a symptom of a not-entirely-perfect-root-solution, it would seem to me.

Open factory settings menu, and disable watchdog-timer .. if your TV offers that option.
I provide NO assistance by PM, unless absolutely necessary. Please ask questions in dedicated topics.

Anything I can do to help you guys with this? Maybe a log file of some sort?

Going to try that. In which section of the service menu would I be able find this option?

Thanks! Working on T-FXPAKUC-1201.0

Biggest hangup seemed to be getting the app to appear in the smarthub. Took several unplug/re-plug cycles while viewing the "more apps" section before the widget appeared. ticker autostart, telnet 23 and ftp working fine across several reboots.

fwiw - used 2GB fat16 formatted disk, using uppermost USB slot, OTN disabled (iTunes+blaster worked great), logged into smarthub as develop.

Today I updated to T-FXPDEUC 1120.4, the root still works.
My 46F8000 was at 1119.2 because I updated from a OTN development server a while ago. I wanted to have a 'normal' firmware again.
I'll hope this version fixes some of my hdmi-cec problems.
