smart remote ue55f7000sl wont work anymore

I havent used my smart remote for a couple of months. Now the remote didnt work. Batteries wear off, so i put some new battries in the remote, but it doesnt work. Also i cant use tv power to switch off the tv.

I know there was a problem with smart remotes with firmware, but was this also with the ue55f7000sl?

Or is my remote defect?
