[PC] SamyGO PVRDecoder for E/F/H series - Version 1.8.2.53
Re: [PC] SamyGO PVRDecoder for E/F series - Version 1.5.3.4
Something strange just happened. I opened the outout file with Windows Media Player, and nothing happened for a long time. The mediaplayer hung. But after quite some time suddenly my notebook started talking. A little later the video showed up. The video is playable, but has a length of only 54 minutes, corresponding to the ~5GB length.
So maybe drmdecrypt, PVRDecoder offline tool and PVRDecoder online part are based on the same source, but compiled with different switches?

Re: [PC] SamyGO PVRDecoder for E/F series - Version 1.5.3.4
Amongst other things, PVRdecoder in mainly a GUI for DRMdecrypt. It uses in the background the version you just tried (for both online/offline), so the problem is certainly not related to PVRdecoder, but only DRMdecrypt. We have no clue why for 2 people (including you) on thousands, decrypting process can't sometimes be achieved. Your input stream has probably something "special" that leads DRMdecrypt to stop at some point. No idea why
Did you mean that you can complete online some recordings you can't offline??

Re: [PC] SamyGO PVRDecoder for E/F series - Version 1.5.3.4
Yes, that's exact. I set PVRDecoder to not delete temporary files. It retrieved and decrypted successfully (with cabled LAN connection). I then compared these with WinDiff with the files copied for offline decryption. WinDiff found no difference on the four .srf and .key files. So next idea is to use the files from the temp directory directly with drmdecrypt. I will report the result.
Re: [PC] SamyGO PVRDecoder for E/F series - Version 1.5.3.4
@JamesZ
Best chance of success appears to be for you to use a cabeled connection, and then decode recordings on-line.
You should also checkout the tool-menu in PVRDecoder, and install the "libPVRtoTS.so", to have the TV do recordings entirely
without DRM .. Thus, recordings made after that library has been loaded will no longer be encrypted by the TV, and
according to your way of thinking you may even distribute them ... as they are not protected .. hehehehehe

Re: [PC] SamyGO PVRDecoder for E/F series - Version 1.5.3.4
I am perfectly happy with the online method. And I do not consider copyrighted public broadcast to be copy protected, even if received over HDMI. Only copy protected DVDs or blue-ray received over HDMI and copied e.g. with the SamyGO method might infringe with the actual or pending swiss law.
Interim result: using the files from the temp directory seems to work correctly. Maybe the .mdb or .ss files in the offline directory make drmdecoder behave differently. Will check.

Re: [PC] SamyGO PVRDecoder for E/F series - Version 1.5.3.4
More ashes on my head. Sorry, somehow I made a mistake comparing the .srf files. The long ones area different. So the error comes from Linux Reader. When I connect the usb stick to my QNAP NAS (detected there as EXT4) and copy from Windows by SMB share, the file copied compares equal to the one retrieved online by PVRDecoder.
So please recommend to not use Linux Reader for .srf files bigger than 5GB.
And maybe the DRMDecrypt could detect when the number of bytes handled differs from the size of the .srf file.
here comes the lengthy log of my experiment:
Thank you again for the excellent work.

Re: [PC] SamyGO PVRDecoder for E/F series - Version 1.5.3.4
Finally, the mystery is solved, thanks for tries and feedback. Glad to know there's actually no problem with DRMdecrypt, and I don't think its job is to detect Linux Reader errors

I do NOT receive any PM. Please use forum.
Re: [PC] SamyGO PVRDecoder for E/F series - Version 1.5.3.4
You're right saying something similar to "this is not a bug, it's a feature".
But I meant something like "these are not bug reports, but suggestions for improvement".
I used to suffer from the misuse of "Quality Reports" for enhancement requests, used just to avoid to have to define a enhancement project (and fund it).
Anyhow, here comes something similar to a bug report: I saw drmdecrypt.exe crash ("drmdecrypt.exe stopped working, Windows is looking for a solution")
I had used LinuxReader64.exe on Windows 8 64 bit to retrieve the >5GB .srf files, which were incorrectly retrieved and caused drmdecrypt to handle only ~5GB.
Now, just to check if this is a LinuxReader64.exe only error, I retrieved the same file with LinuxReader.exe on a 32bit Windows 7 netbook.
The retrieved file, copied over to the Windows 8 notebook, made drmdecrypt.exe stop unexpectedly.
IMPORTANT: this is for information only, it is not a bug report, and I am really happy with the working solution!
(now I search through your Monitors forum, to see if I can somehow use my SynchMaster LT27A750EX/EN as a backup for PVR use).

It's much better to test it on REAL linux system instead of playing around with your (full of bugs) Linux ReaderJamesZ wrote:You're right saying something similar to "this is not a bug, it's a feature".

I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)

I agree, of course. But LinuxReader was mentioned in this forum for use of the PVRDecoder offline method. I think I downloaded it from an official site.
Don't you think, programs should handle bad data gracefully, without crashing? Maybe not in advanced stuff like SamyGO.
Sorry, I really appreciate your work! Congratulations.
