Samsung UN40F6400 function "On Timer" don't work.

Post by markf »

Hello to all. First sorry for my poor english, I'm using google translator. Im from Brazil and I'm here to expose a small problem and maybe someone can help me. I bought the TV Samsung UN40F6400 a few days and started to enjoy it yesterday. And the problem is: the function "On Timer" dont work. For example: I adjust the hour of "on timer" correct in 1:05 am, while the clock is marking 1:00 am in auto mode, then i turn off the TV using the remote control and leave in Stand-by, but the TV dont power on in the time I programmed to turn. After failing the function "On Timer" I turn on the TV by remote control. I try configure the clock in manual mode but the same result, and when i turn on the TV i see the hour in the clock is the same at the time I had turned off . Does anyone know a way to fix this?

PS: My firmware is 1115, the last here in Brazil detected only using the network in the TV, because in the Site Samsung Brazil dont have firmware for download, and I think I could not update using a firmware of US Site Samsung, due to standard digital tv is not the same.

Thanks in advance.
Mark.

Hello,
I live in Brazil and have an equivalent TV model: UN46F6400, firmware version 2126 (last one available). I am having the same problem: clock stops after the TV is turned off and therefore the "on timer" feature does not work.
Have you found any solution?
This is quite frustrating for anyone trying to use a function as basic as using the TV as an alarm.
Thank you.

First of all don't EVER update :) Now you might have blocked yourself a way to fix your issue.
Second thing is that instead of using google translator is to switch tv to english language and then check how in english language is your "on timer" function called because I believe it's most certainly NOT called "on timer" and as a result I don't even have any idea what are you asking about ;)
I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
If you want me to help you please paste FULL log(s) to "spoiler"/"code" bbcodes or provide link(s) to pasted file(s) on https://pastebin.com Otherwise "NO HELP"!!!

Reading the post several times, I have come to understand his issue ... I think :)

He wants to do a timed recording, but the clock "stops passing time" when TV is turned OFF.
Thus the planned recording never happens ...

- or -

He has been setting a Wake-up timer, hoping to wake up when the TV turns itself ON .... so he can goto work :-)
But timer never triggers .. thus he got up too late, and got fired !
I provide NO assistance by PM, unless absolutely necessary. Please ask questions in dedicated topics.

Hehe well until he explains exactly what he wants and what the real problem is it's EXTREMELY hard to help him ;)

"On timer" is the term used in the English version of the E-manual for the 6400 series.

It is a feature to allow the TV to turn on automatically at a scheduled time.

Screen Menu > System > Time > On Timer

In other words, this is my situation:
"He has been setting a Wake-up timer, hoping to wake up when the TV turns itself ON .... so he can goto work :-)
But timer never triggers .. thus he got up too late, and got fired !"

Got fired three times because of this problem ;)

Could you, please, help me with this issue?

Thank you in advance.

I am starting to think that this is a problem involving only TVs made in Brazil, given that after spending some time searching on Google the only post I found related to this issue was written by a Brazilian person. Considering that the problem affects a basic feature probably used by many customers, I was expecting to find many more posts on this issue.

Here is the English version of the E-manual:

Just check here and works like a charm :) I remember having some issues with timers in the past the problem was lack of DVB-T channels :D Do you have DVB-T channels? :)

I have digital channels, but in Brazil the digital system is ISDB-T (Japanese system) and not DVB-T.

Well maybe it "doesn't work correctly" ;) Anyway if it doesn't work request replacement :)

I bought the TV more than 1 year ago. Moreover, if it is really a manufacturing problem affecting all TVs made in Brazil, replacement would not be the solution.
