yeah you can try sending info+factory with android app
BTW
zoelechat I think we have to change description for some (like this one) bluray devices. For them "standard combination" doesn't open service menu. But maybe INFO+FACTORY from android or ir blaster still works...
I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. Tried rooting brand new bd-f7500 (current stock firmware version 1017) using instructions in this post.
Didn't work for me, the SamyGO app isn't appearing in smarthub, tried plugging in usb stick different times, even in poweroff mode, and with and without inside (more apps) smarthub.
I do get the usb stick popup which I clicked away.
Also tried to downgrade by setting the alternate dns, but got 800 resource error.
Is bd-f7500 on firmware 1017 root'able? or do I need to downgrade first?

No you don't know if it works or not You didn't even try rooting itself

On some F models it's NORMAL. Some testers had to try many, many times to get app appear. But when it did appear it worked on first try Keep on trying

after rooting i get Smarthub need to be updated.. is it safe to update?
what is the risk of not disabling OTN?
i can just connect the bluray to internal network and block internet access or thats not enogh?
No root, lack of root, unwanted firmware upgrade, no way to downgrade. It's very simple. Better disable Especially when you use samyGOrc method

Should be but we don't know every router etc. The safest way is to disable OTN Support

Shouldn't cause problems... Although nothing is certain. It might disable root so you will have to re-root No reports so far

You're right! eventually (after trying for 20 times) the SamyGO icon appeared, started it, and seems to be working, do I need to leave the USB stick in the player? Will it autostart or do I need to run it everytime the bluray player boots? (icon is gone again from smarthub) Can I make the changes permanent?
Is it possible to write to the partition of the samsung player or is it mounted read only?
When I telnet to port 5023 (the other telnet ports are closed) I got:
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
