After downgrading I was able to upgrade again

Post by lighttear »

As in the subjetc, more than one year ago I succesfully downgraded my BD-D6900 to the original 1003 FW revision through the DNS trick.
Unfortunately if on one hand I avoided Cinavia, on the other hand I found some BluRay movies incompatibility and the inability to upgrade some important App in the Smarthub such as Youtube. I read here that downgrade procedure is IRREVERSIBLE and I was very, very disappointed for this since is not clearly written by developers here in the forum ...
but with my big surprise, since in the settings page FW 1003 was displayed I tried an OTA upgrade and the download begun, but I immediately cancel it.
Then I took an older firmware from my repository (1008) and succesfully installed via USB.
Now I have a more recent firmware which allowed to upgrade some Apps (like Youtube) and without Cinavia. I can decide in the future if upgrade to the latest FW revision
knowing that I will have Cinavia forever, but it will be my choice.

Cheers

L.
