Rooting UE50H6400

Post by lartistez »

Hello,

I would be happy to participate in your efforts by making a donation, but is it possible to root this model: UE50H6400 (T-MST14DEUC-2700.5 / T-MST14DEUS-1009? ?
(If that interests me primarily is to have SSH access.)
Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Regards,

I too am interested in purchasing the same model, but without root it would be mostly worthless for my purposes...

To get root you have to disable OTN Support ASAP.
I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
If you want me to help you please paste FULL log(s) to "spoiler"/"code" bbcodes or provide link(s) to pasted file(s) on https://pastebin.com Otherwise "NO HELP"!!!
If you want root DISABLE internet access to your device!!!!
DO NOT EVER INSTALL FIRMWARE UPGRADE !!!!

Hi,

I'm also thinking of buying this type. Would you recommend it based on your experiences?

Does disabling the firmware update void the warranty?

Thanks in advance!

Disabling firmware update doesn't void the warranty, but rooting it does. I finally ordered this model and I'm looking forward to playing with it :)

I'm not sure yet if rooting is reversable - in case you need to return the tv in warranty if you can hide the fact it was rooted. I don't think it has an e-fuse, but I suspect rooting makes changes to the internal filesystem...

Here no problems with warranty and rooted TVs :)

Hey guys,

I got my ue55h6400 in sales and and asked specifically for a unboxed model (without) the latest firmware. I've been in the business for a couple of years so I know a closed box doesn't mean a lot. That's why I'm a bit concerned about the firmware on my TV. If my information is right, the original firmware should be T-MST-14DEUS-1009 but mine has T-MST14DEUC-2740 and apparently the latest is 2750.3. Of course I disabled OTN Support in service menu before connecting to the internet. Am I fucked?

I bought the same TV last week and got version 2602.2. I managed to enter extended service menu and thankfully OTN was not grayed out, so I disabled it. I also blacklisted the update URLs on my router as an extra precaution.

I'd say you're not in immediate danger. As far as I know firmwares > 2300 don't have a published root, but sectroyer seems to know an exploit to root them. I'm sure he will release it once he can be sure it won't cause trouble for people who can't disable OTN
