samito13, thanks for your replies here and at the Tversity forum. I'm not sure how cooperative Samsung customer service wil be in this situation, but your plan to ask them for a thumbdrive copy of your current firmware may work if they do it for you. The reason that I say this is because all indications on my TV screen made it appear as a reload of my current firmware, i.e. "Upgrading firmware from version 1009 to 1009." Despite the 1009.0 and 1009.2 difference, it allowed me to load it just fine. Afterwards, not only did I notice I could load SamyGO again, but I also now have an "Alternative Software" listed in the upgrade screen. I'll be contacting Samsung again myself, as I have this same problem still in effect on my UN40B7000. Customer service has proven absolutely useless when asking for previous versions, but maybe this is an unknown bug associated with Internet-pushed upgrades versus USB-based ones. I guess it's worth a shot.
