UE46F6170 CEC AnyNet+ possible

Post by phester »

I have the above tv and it does not support CEC. It is not an option even in the Service menu. Is it at all posible to modify the firmware to enable or add this feature.

Feel free to move this to the correct sub-forum
Thanks

How do you know it does NOT support CEC? When you power off HDMI connected, CEC capable device TV should power off. It doesn't?
I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
If you want me to help you please paste FULL log(s) to "spoiler"/"code" bbcodes or provide link(s) to pasted file(s) on https://pastebin.com Otherwise "NO HELP"!!!
If you want root DISABLE internet access to your device!!!!
DO NOT EVER INSTALL FIRMWARE UPGRADE !!!!

Both my TV and and BD player support CEC and... it doesn't. Should they not support it for it to work? :geek:

Did you enable CEC in TVs menu? Power OFF both devices and than power on BD player. TV should power on :)

no cec or "anynet+" in the menus anywhere, also no mention in the service menu only EDID. I have had many samsung tv and have used them all with my raspberry PI and other devices. This TV does not have it on either HDMI port with any cable. The service menu says HDMI 1.3 also

thanks for the criticism. :) I see elsewhere on the forum people being helped to patch firmware etc. can someone be of more help than to point out the obvious over site on purchase. I thought as did others in this forum that it was a standard in Samsung at this point.

Well I don't think you can expect "help to patch firmware etc." right "out of the box" when nobody was aware there are such models ;) I suspect you might have to be patient on that. First point would be locating the place in Service Menu where CEC is enabled... BTW do you expect "power on" HDMI-CEC feature ?
