Samsung D6000 series region change/widgets

Post by avgjoe »

Hi,
Got a Samsung D6000 series with the SmartHub (new name for Internet@tv) and I noticed that the region switch trick (ff,289,rwd) works and I can switch to another country, problem is it always deletes the default widgets (some of which I'd like to keep) and installs new ones. I'm wondering whether there's some way to mark some widgets so they're not removed or make some sort of a backup for them? I'm trying to switch to Poland to use the Ipla widget, and it works 100%, but when I switch back to US region, it deletes it.

Any ideas on how to make backup of widgets? I tried to create a folder and move some of them (using remote) but the tv still deleted them when region change was done. There's also some 'explore 3D' widget on the default list which is silly since the tv doesn't have 3D support - but this being a default widget I can't seem to remove it.

IMO wipla works only if Poland is set. They also check country by IP. You could use some kind polish proxy that gives to server right IP.

Actually Ipla (as software) works everywhere, it's downloadable from their website and my family uses it here in america... I think it's the TVP widget that checks the IP where your connection's from.
My other idea was to get a copy of the Netflix widget zip, and install it manually after I switch region to Poland - though not sure if that'll fly - all I'm trying to accomplish is to have the american widgets up and running alongside with Ipla. If there was only some way to stop it from uninstalling certain widget, rest would be easy :(

Czesc avgjoe, I was wondering if you were able to figure out how to get ipla coexist with apps from other regions. I'd love to have ipla on my 2012 Samy PN51E7000 in USA. Any help greatly appreciated. Dzieki!
