D5520 recording format

I've successfully activated the PVR function on my D5520 TV using the expanded service menu via ruSamsungCommunicator (thanks, worked flawlessly). I can browse the HDD with my Linux machine and see the various files created. The main video file seems to be xxx.srf. Any suggestions on accessing the video file to convert to an editable/viewable format either on windows or linux? I can't find any information about srf files other than Sony Raw Format picture files which doesn't seem probable.
