PS59D530A5W - 59" Plasma

Post by leavematrix »

I got the European version of the Samsung 59" plasma called PS59D530A5W.
First thing I noticed playing with it - no video playback was possible.

So I switched to standby and pressed INFO - MENU - MUTE - POWER to enter the service menu.
I changed the model there from PD530 to PD550 and did a factory reset.
Video playback works and Allshare should be on, too (just ordered the Edimax EW-7718Un to tweak pid and vid - and try it).

My software version was right out of the box T-MSU4DEUC-1007.2 (can be found here http://www.samsung.com/nl/support/model ... -downloads# )

I wonder if it was possible to use Samygo to enable Internet-Browsing and Samsung-Apps? (Help!)
Since the D550 model change, the tv now shows four HDMI ports in sources - but two of them are dead as the D530 in hardware only has two HDMI ports.
I wonder if one could solder two HDMI female connectors to the PCB of the D530 (which may have solderpads for those already)

Any information for further 'extensions' and possibilities is very welcome!

Thank You!

Hi

Thanks for your input, I've got avid play by USB, but I AllShare works, is disabled and I can not configure it. I use a D-Link DWA-140 Hardware versi?n B1 (chipset Ralink RT2870).

How Allshare should be on????

Regards

Thank you for answering

Yes, I have changed the PID & VID, but the TV does not recognize

Perhaps D series does not work with Dlink DWA-140

I'll try to buy a Edimax EW-7718Un

Thanks again

[...]
Dlink DWA-140 UK - USA - AU (Notice: It's confirmed that HW Rev B1 recognized by C series without change. Also problem reported with HW Rev B2, looks like stick does not flash eeprom values properly.)
[...]

This is a quote from the page I sent You - maybe You have Rev B2?

Hi

Thanks for your help. no, it revB1. AllShare functionality is not enabled, grayed with both disconnect or connect dlink.

As you enable the AllShare with Edimax?

King regards

Hi - 2 days ago my EDIMAX dongle arrived - as You write changing the PID and VID did not really do the trick.
Don't order another dongle, it is another issue - I will try to resolve it (in case it is possible).
The D550 has internal Wifi - I have no idea which chipset it uses - maybe we need another PID VID in this case...
I am quite sure D550's WLAN is also USB attached (through PCB).

Maybe we would need a RT3572 chipset wifi dongle...
WIS09ABGN is based on RT2870 - while the WIS12ABGNX (which should be the one included with PS59D550) seems to be based on RT3572.
Other rumors tell D7000 model change would help to kick into gear with the RT2870 on a TV-hardware D550/D530.
It's quite confusing....

Changing the model to D7000 would mess up HDMI ports (You need special Y cables and at least one permanently switched on device) and also the media player (for USB devices).
I did not find any information if it would enable DLNA over WIFI (lets say id a plugged Edison dongle with VID PID changed would be recognized).
All I found is that You can do enhanced screen calibrations.

So it seems that's the end of the research - PD530 changed to PD550 wont have DLNA over WIFI, no matter what stick.
