BD-5300 downgrade firmware then MR hack?

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a BD-5300 (UK), and want to use it as a multi-region DVD player.

From reading the various forums, the MR hack stopped working after FW 1015.
So if I use the firmware downgrade mentioned here on SamyGO, can I then make the player MR? Or am I wasting my time?!
