problem with SMARTHub on UN46D7000

Post by yugisop »

Hi Guys,

Don't know if anyone has come across this issue but since I've purchased my TV last Nov (2011) from Amazon I've not been able to access any of the additional widgets in SMARTHub other than those in the pic.

I cannot see the smart hub menu buttons (A,B,C) at the bottom of the screen either and pressing any of them on the smart hub screen does not work.

When I press D the small 'SETTINGS' window comes up but Account Management and Service Manager are disabled and cannot be selected. I tried clicking / selecting reset and when it says "smart hub reset successful" and I go back to the smart hub screen I still have the same issue.

Samsung help says I need to send the tv to a service centre but it's too expensive to ship it to one outside of my country.

Please help.

Regards,

Have you made any changes to your TV up to this point that may have caused this? We need information!

You could try entering the service menu (check out the D series wiki, and follow all safety measures), Once in the service menu you can try to perform a factory reset. I wish I could remember the steps exactly, but I do not, but if I am remembering correctly its in one of the first two menus. This is ENTIRELY done at your own risk, I am not an expert only a hobbyist! You DO NOT want to change something in those menus unless you know what you are changing and why!

Is your router blocking internet access to the tv?

Dude, you were spot on. I owe you a beer. I did not do any other changes other than update the firmware once late last year and then last week again.

I followed the wiki, turn off the TV then did mute 182 power then the tv came on with the factory menu and I hit reset and it powered off then I powered on again an went through the first time setup and then there it was. When I hit the smart hub button ... there it was in all it's glory.

Now guess what Samsung did, once I connect the tv to my router and it goes online for a few minutes... Samsung disables the smarthub features and dumps be back to the basic smart hub without the nice stuff. I suspect they are checking the IP address and because I'm out of the US, (the TV firmware shows US in the factory setup screen) they disable the smarthub.

So now I can stay off my network and have the cool looking screen or go online and have the "dumb" screen ... how crookish..

Does anyone have a work around for this? I'm currently researching a hidemyass.com vpn account but need to figure how I will get this to work.

Hey, no the few widgets that come with the tv, such as weather and flickr and so works ok. i can also stream online stuff with the "Revision TV" widget. I think Samsung is checking my IP and disabling it when they see i'm out of the us they kill the enchanced smart hub.

As long as my tv is disconnected from the net i get full smart hub but when i go online all enhancement are gone.

Yeah. I am in Canada and I use http://www.unblock-us.com to unlock U.S. content.
