I want to tell you really funny story about hex-rays, the company behind IDA debugger/disassembler tool.
I had some emails before, those given by ISPs. Problems with those accounts are they are closd when you change your ISP.
So I don't use of them anymore. Don't even created one while I moved new ISP months ago. For years I stick with my free mail accounts. They are not needed to close if I change my ISP

One day, (27/9/2012) I want to pay for IDA Pro license because it's the best debugger/disassembler and I use it sometimes and have a benefit from it while inspecting programs for hacking/cracking....
So I send a mail for buying one license, please know that that piece of software is just $1059.
Answer comes next day:Erdem wrote:I want to buy IDAPRONL with IBAN transfer.

Firstly I don't think if they are serious at all. I don't understand how they are authenticate a user with it's email address. Anyway I send a answer mail:Hex-Rays SA wrote:Hi Erdem,
Thank you for your message!
Please could you contact us from your professional email address? We need to authenticate you, but cannot do so with a free email account.
Thank you.

I think my money transfer just authenticate my mail. But they doesn't think like that...Erdem wrote:Hi Sandra,
This is owner of samygo.tv domain (you can check whois information) but I do not setup an email server into it. I don't care it actually. What is different if mails come from a private domain? Do you think that if you can authenticate a person just by looking mail address? Funny.
This is my main mail address. And I think when money comes to your bank account from me, you can use sender name for authenticate me properly. I do not have mail adresses other than free accounts.

Erdem
They ask $65 for physical delivery. I wonder that what they are trying to deliver. At most they send a DVD box to me.Hex-Rays SA wrote:Hi Erdem,
Thank you for your reply!
Since we have no way to authenticate you, only a payment by bank transfer with physical deliver (disk support), is possible in this case.
The total amount for your order is:
1 x IDAPRONL @1059 USD+ 65 USD (shipping fees) =1124 USD
If this is acceptable for you, please let us know and we will send us the bank details, thank you.

Also I think they need to put an option for FREE Super Saver Shipping!
It's over $1000 and it's just piece of software on DVD box!
Yes. You read right. Their payment form require you put your CC information send by unencrypted e-mail!Erdem wrote:Hi Sandra,
Please, just stop kidding. You cannot authenticate anyone by looking
it's mail address. You cannot request some other email addresses from
your clients due their mail addresses are running on free hosts. I
invite you to start thinking logical.
I wonder that do you believe this is Erdem U. Altinyurt if you have mail
from ro*t@samygo.tv? or ro*t@divfix.org or ro*t@mkvrepair.com or
ro*t@wxhexeditor.org or ro*t@hexeditor.eu or ro*t@diskeditor.net ....etc
I have all those domains but still stick my gmail account.
If you really want to authenticate me, then you can just call me from my
cellular phone, +90 (50*) ***4433.
You can still believe what you want and could use physical delivery but
"I am not gonna pay $65 for your delirium". Just @1059 USD for IDAPRONL.
I also want to pay via bank transfer since it's not safe to write CC
information on email at least if mail is not encrypted.
Best Regards,
Believe or not,

Do they think that their program is more valuable their clients credit card information?
At least, they could put sign to their mails. So we can initiate encrypted mails for communicate safer. This keep sensitive information from (at least most of) unauthorized eyes...
They could authenticate via emails from unrecognized hosts but couldn't via phone number!Hex-Rays SA wrote:Hi Erdem,
Contacting us from one of those email domain would be a good start: unfortunately, we will not be able to authenticate you with a phone call, sorry.
Your options in this case are payment in advance by bank transfer (as explained in my message below) + 65 USD for shipping, total 1124 USD. Electronic delivery will not be possible to the email ********@gmail.com.

I wonder what they think they are? A client want to buy a software but they don't like to deliver just because they don't like it's mail address.
That's all. I don't think If I am still want to buy a license from them.
I think they need to say sorry to me and give me a good decrease on price.
Than I can re-think buy it...
Yes, use of unlicensed software / warez are not good, but this is why some companies deserve it!Erdem wrote: Hi Sandra,
Unfortunately, you/your company looks like doesn't aware that you can buy such a domain for a $5 and the process doesn't require any authentication also. So what is the point of using a mail with those domains? Also I can find many free mail account sites that you cannot recognize them if they are free or not, like free mail hosts on my local language...
Sorry. I do not setup any mail server to my hosts or do not register any other free mail accounts to cheat you.
I don't need another mail address just for you don't like my mail.
I am a client and just want to buy a license. If hex-rays don't want to sell me just because I am using free mail account, you know.
I don't want to pay extra $65 for just delivery of while I am paying >$1000 for just software already.
I found IDA Pro 6.1 Windows version from internet (do you require address?) and I could use it via KVM machine and/or Wine emulation layer happily, without a license...
Don't claim anything on front of the God due unlicensed use of your program. It's your fault.
When you allow gmail accounts, let me know. Might be I can think on buying a license again.
With my Best Regards.
