Hi podeig,

I just tested a sample .mts on my tv (generated with a sony hdr-cx11 camera, full hd, 1920x1080).
The file format wasn't recognized, invisble in the menus. I renamed it to .mpg and then I had video, and just like you, no sound. It's a bit strange, because, when I convert these files to .avi (with mpeg4 video, deinterlaced) I leave the audio alone (it is AC3 and stays that way, in my conversion), and I have perfect video _and_ audio. Probably just one of those firmware quirks in our sammys.

BTW conversion: I use ffmpeg for that, output mpeg4 +ac3, in an .avi container, but you already guessed that.

Should you buy a sony? I don't know, the AVCHD is in my view not the best video format ever. full HD, but interlaced, and there aren't many software packages around that handle it well. But that's only my opinion, and I'm not really keeping track of new developments in this area. If, by now there's a camera around that produces non-interlaced full HD, I'd go for that.

grtz,

marcelr
