Is it safe to update f7000 to 1119 in order to use skype?

Hello,

I will have a ue40f7000 and I will root it for sure but I want to keep skype working, so I think I will update firmware to 1119 and use "new" root method.
Before trying I would like to know if it's possible and safe or I should keep old firmware without skype working.

Keep old firmware, make Skype working and use new rooting method

Updating won't fix Skype

only reseting smart hub apps will

Just to be sure: new rooting method also works on old firmware?
