UN40EH5300FXZA FIRMWARE FOR BBC IPLAYER

Post by 00derek »

The compatibility list doesn't show my TV model, so as advised I'm asking the question in the forum.

TV is UN40EH5300FXZA purchased from Costco in Dec 2013.

In the beginning I successfully changed to the locale to United Kingdom, installed the BBC iPlayer app and was able to watch BBC programming. Sometime later (I suspect after an automatic update) BBC iPlayer video stopped working (can only see scrambled horizontal lines). Audio is working and I can still navigate through the app, so it's not exactly blocked due to regional restrictions. Other UK TV apps (e.g. 4OD) are still working.

So I want to get iPlayer working again. My first question is has anyone else tried this? I don't want to go through the process if someone on the forum can tell me now that it's not possible.

According the menu user interface the firmware version is T-MST10PAUSC-2001.3.

In the service menu (on the first page next to CONTROL) T-MST10PAUSC-2001.3 is shown again, but also T-MST10PAUSS-1004 is listed.

I performed a factory reset from the service menu, but it didn't change the firmware version.

What is the next step?
is there an easy fix for this, or do I need to downgrade the firmware?

I did turn off automatic updates in the service menu.

Side question; on a page on this forum http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/Ex-Lin ... BD_players there is a link to a cable being sold on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/251596117548?lp ... 19&ff14=23). I have a Dell laptop with a serial port running Windows XP; will this cable work as intended?

Thanks
