UA46C6900 upgrading

Post by ghp2011 »

Hi all,
Last year, I bought a UA46C6900 (Made in Malaysia) . Few months ago, I tried to
enable PVR via Hotel Mode and succeeded enabling it in service Menu; but there was no functioning  .
As you can see on Samsung Australia web site; The Australian version of UA46C6900 have T-VALDEUC firmware; But my TV (Malaysian) have T-VAL6XDAAC-1013.0 firmware.
Is there any hardware difference between these two models?
Can I upgrade my own TV with firmware downloaded from Australian website?
If Not; What can i do?

Hey,
Hi.........,
Is there anybody out there?
I download both Australian and Malaysian version of new firmwares for UA46C6900.
The Australian version is "T-VALDEUC", a 132 MB executable file with version number 3010.0.
The Malaysian one is 89.6 MB T-VAL6XDAAC.exe (ver. 1017.0). Unfortunately, I could not find any information about hardware differences or similarities between Australian and Malaysian, yet.
I am going to compare the two firmware right now.

to be continued.....

Hi,

My TV is LA40C630 and it also has the T-VAL6XDAAC firmware (ver. 1013.0 as well).
I also know that there are submodels (for example, my TV is actually LA40C630K1R), so you might want to check if your TV also has several variants. (for instance, I know that some C630 are MIPS and some ARM CPUs).
I don't know if you've seen my post, but I was unable to see debug outputs from my TV. Were you able to connect to your TV using the Ex-link cable? can you confirm that you were able to see debug messages on the VAL6xDAAC-1013.0 firmware ?

Thanks.

T-VAL6* are for ARM cpu, not mips.
You could try to hack TV over hotel mode, but only manual way, i mean, usb hack image isn`t available for your firmware.
Probably you get no result, because other T-VAL6 firmwares aren`t hackable at all using usual methods for valensia platform.

Hi juuso,

Where is your post? link please.
I don't have Ex-link yet. I am going to build one today and inform you as soon as possible.

It seems like since I'm a new user here I can't put the link here, just look for a post with this title: "Ex-link cable connection for LA40C630 with VAL6XDAAC"
I'll be happy to know when you have updates, thanks!

Hi all,
1-I decrypt T-VALDEUC 3010.1 and T-VAL6XDAAC 1017.0 using "SamyGO Firmware Patcher.py" and compare files and images.
1.1- On a Linux machine: use python command.
1.2- On windows machine: You need to install python and pycrypto packages ; Google them. I cant post links yet.
1.3- pycrypto do not work with 64bit version of python. use 32bit one.
2-Both firmwares have a file named Image. I compared the two files using winmerge; There is no binary difference between them.
2.1-According to partition.txt (Inside the exe.img), it seems that the file Image is the kernel of OS. So, the firmwares use identical kernels.
3- I think the rootfs.img is indeed initrd (Initial Ram Disk) of Linux OS.
3.1- There are 3 binary and 2 script files in T-VAL6XDAAC rootfs.img that there are not in T-VAL6DEUC.
3.2- The diferences are:
bml.dump : Low-level Partition Dump Tool for NAND Flash Memory
fsrflxdump : Flex-OneNAND dump tool for Debugging
stl.dump : stl level Partition Dump Tool for NAND Flash Memory
fsrrestore and update.sh in /etc/Scripts
4- exe.img(contain exeDSP and samdrv.ko) and appdata.img are so different.
5- Is this information helpful?; How can we use this info. I do not know!! :(

To be continued....

Sorry for my bad English; Benim ana dilim T?rk?e :) .

3.1 : what firmwares have you compared? VAL6DEUC or VALDEUC (step 1 of your tasklist).

All what you said is known and sure Image is kernel, rootfs ir filesystem. Main difference is on exe.img which has samsung TV software, closed source exeDSP...

Don`t forget those partitions are rsa signed and even if you change+encrypt back using patcher, TV declines it as not native firmware.

Thanks for reply,
I compared T-VAL6XDAAC with T-VALDEUC.
Is there any other way to flashing?
Is there any way to modding firmwares?
Suppose that one can flash TV with other firmware than the native one; Is there risk of bricking TV?
